The street

Sexuality is portrayed in the street in a very realistic and believable way, that respects the view of all sexualities.  The men are just normal, manly men not obviously camp, like gays are usually portrayed in the media. The main men i s married with children and works on a building site (a very manly job). The other man, is maybe a little more obviously 'gay' but none of the other characters know, he also to the eye is not camp and he also is a typical man working on a building site. Therefore the writers have got the point across to the audience that gay people are not extremely camp, confident about there sexuality and act like the opposite sex. That is not what happens in real life and how people are, it is just how the media portrays them to be. Usually they are just normal, everyday people.

Looking at the magazine industry

Why did IPC media have cause to be optimistic about their business prospects in 2006?

IPC media were optimistic about their business prospects in 2006 as they are a big company that have extended their brand into other areas of media, such as television and the web. This therefore makes them more likely to survive, than companies with only one type. Economies tend to invest in bigger companies and help to spread their costs. Also advertisers spend their budgets on bigger companies and more well known.

According to the article THE GUARDIAN (Jan 2009) Why are the major players in the British magazine industry better placed to weather the economic crisis?

They are more likely to survive in this economical climate as they usually have extended their brands into other areas of the media. Also if they are big named brands, advertisers will invest their money into them and this is a major source of income for the magazine's. Also if they are well known and are a big title. also, for example,Big celebrities will want to be or agree to being their magazine; therefore they will sell more magazine's.
